hey ho me hearties!
i love my job
no no hang on
i really fucking love my job.
looks like benny’s off on a course or four lol… i’ve got a netware admin course in bristol to look forward to, followed by what’ll probably be a zenworks or more advanced server admin course… depending on which route i take. I’m also going to push for some apple training, but that’ll be a little farther down the line, and some homebrew linux training i’ll do from home… as well as the obligatory first aid and firefighting courses that we all have to do internally
i’ve also been asked, due to my experience in music and AV to take on some training for the music and theatre departments, so in the future i may end up becoming a fallback AV tech too.
though it doesn’t look like much from the surface, it makes me smile that they’re not waiting for my six monthly probation period to come up before deciding whether or not i’m actually worth it lol. And after a few meetings with my line manager chris it’s become apparent to me that i’m not even at the ‘bottom of the stack’ in the IT department, something a little bit trivial which also makes me smile, i don’t think i’ve ever been anything BUT the bottom of the stack.
dontcha worry though, i’ll never turn into some briefcase weilding besuited middle manager… never!
i find i’m really fitting in at barton, the team i’m working with are fantastic, there’s never a dead end as someone is always willing to help out, people recognise your skills and ask your advice, and the staff couldn’t be more pleasant. i’m feeling at home. i’m getting used to the [rather large] site, and the weeks are rolling along nicely… towards…. paydayyyy!
lucky for me, my payday is a few days before indy’s birthday… so i’m booking a couple of days off work and we’re going on an adventure. we haven’t decided where we’re going yet, just gonna get some money out, catch a train [or get in a car, depending on a certain test result!], go somewhere nice and see where the winds of chance take us
even though life’s been quite pleasurable lately, i’m really looking forward to having some time out so it’s just indy and me, i’m sure she could use the mental defrag before she starts uni too!
i came home from work today after adopting a Toshiba tablet laptop, it’s a sexy little thing which i’m gonna try and make my main workstation at work, and also use at home for the time being in photoshop related tasks… anyone who’s used a graphics tablet before will undoubtedly see the benefits of drawing straight onto a computer screen
i also completely reworked my desktop… there’s now three machines… mjolnir at my left, the root of our network here at home, edgar the mac in the middle, with my lush 19″ widescreen next to him as a second monitor, [i now have a mini mouse for my mac too rob!] and now the toshiba tablet lappie on my right, all linked up wirelessly
tis all good
music wise i’ve done a couple of songs lately, only one of which i’ve put online, and that’s called ‘the river’ it’s one i wrote when indy was on holiday and i missed her lots. you’ll hopefully be seeing us rock that one out nice and loud at the joiners before the end of the year
but shh…
i’ve been working on my comicbook project at the back of my mind relentlessly, finally finding a decent title for it, which hit a sweet spot somewhere and unlocked hundreds of ideas recently… it’s changing and shifting into something… more epic. all that you need to know of course, is that i’ve started the introductory pages, and it’s looking good so far!
i hope this finds you all in good shape, and before i go i just want to wish lukee the very best of luck tomorrow in his interview, and also wish indy the best of luck in her driving test next week too!
laters peeps, and remember, if you can’t see to the bottom of the cup, even after you’ve scraped the hairy mouldy cack aside, then it probably used to be cream of mushroom soup.
laters!
xXx benny xXx
p.s. the India lady makes my tummy feel funny!
